Bangladesh is now hosting the world’s biggest refugee camp where over 900 000 Rohingya and other minorities are fleeing the ethnic cleansing in Myanmar. As a part of the international response, the Government of Canada will match donations made by Canadians to humanitarian organizations working to support Rohingya refugees between August 25 and November 28, 2017.

The federal government has launched this matching relief fund to help humanitarian agencies in Bangladesh to deal with the influx of nearly one million Rohingya refugees fleeing a brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing in neighbouring Myanmar. To ensure Canada’s contribution to the Fund can respond quickly to the increasing needs in Myanmar and Bangladesh, donations must be made between August 25 and November 28, 2017.

In support of experienced Canadian and international humanitarian organizations working on the ground to meet needs of people affected by the crisis in Bangladesh and Myanmar, for every eligible dollar raised, the Government of Canada will set aside one dollar for the Myanmar Crisis Relief Fund. Learn more about the fund here.

SCIC members and their partners on the ground are responding:
